Privacy Policy

1. The short version

We collect only the information needed to invite you to a dinner, sell you a ticket, or stay in touch about future events. We do not sell your data. We use a small set of trusted service providers for payments, email, analytics, internal records, editorial workflows, and team communication.

2. What we collect

• Application and newsletter forms: first name, last name, email, closest city, and any details you choose to share (for example, what you do, why you want to attend).
• Ticket purchases via Stripe: name, email, billing address, phone number, and payment metadata (card details are handled by Stripe, not by us).
• Website usage: standard analytics events (page views, clicks, form submissions, purchase value) via Google Analytics 4. We do not capture full IP addresses for advertising.
• Magazine contributions: your contact details, biography, story, supplied links, consent choices, and images you upload.

3. How we use it

• To process your ticket purchase and confirm your seat.
• To send you the dinner brief, schedule, and venue details.
• To occasionally write to you about upcoming events, in line with the consent you gave when you joined the list.
• To improve the website and our event programme.
• To research, edit, fact-check, review, and—only after approval—publish magazine contributions.

4. Who we share it with

Stripe processes payments under their own terms and privacy notice. Mailchimp holds our newsletter list. Google Analytics 4 handles website measurement. Make.com and Google Sheets are used internally to keep our member records organised. Google Drive stores contributor files and editorial drafts. OpenAI may process contribution text and public web information to assist research and drafting; publication remains subject to human editorial review and contributor approval. Microsoft 365 hosts our team email. We share data with these providers only to the extent needed to deliver the service.

5. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to: see what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, remove you from our records, or withdraw consent for marketing. Write to events@jointheleague.uk and we will respond within a reasonable time, typically within fourteen days.

6. Retention

Ticket records are kept for as long as legally required (usually six years for financial records). Newsletter records are kept until you ask to be removed. Application records for prospective members are kept while the application is live and for a period afterwards in case you reapply. Contribution materials are kept while they are under editorial consideration and, if published, for as long as needed to maintain the publication and its editorial record. You can ask us to withdraw an unpublished contribution at any time.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies for site function plus Google Analytics cookies for measurement. We do not run advertising trackers.
